Loan Officer Continuing Education Course

It’s that time of the year loan officers; time to square away your continuing education (CE) requirements. For many this is a daunting task, socking away a least 8 hours of time to take a another course.  We try to make this as easy as possible by providing you with our online NMLS approved course. You have the ability to take the course over a week or one day, your choice.

Who needs to complete CE?

All mortgage loan officers (MLOs) whom have complete pre-licensure education in prior years must complete at least 8 hours of continuing education. If you have completed your loan officer pre-licensure education within the calendar year, you will not need to complete any continuing education in that same calendar year.

What do I need to cover for my NMLS continuing education?

All active state-licensed MLOs are required to complete at least 8 hours of NMLS approved education yearly.  Below is a break down of sections that must be covered in continuing education (for your exact CE requirement please click here and select your state:)

  • 3 hours of Federal law and regulations
  • 2 hours of ethics, which entails, instruction on fraud, consumer protection, and fair lending issues
  • 2 hours of non-traditional mortgage lending
  • 1 hour of undefined instruction (elective)

Please note that MLOs are not able to take the same NMLS approved courses two years in a row, as the NMLS will not count that toward their continuing education requirements. Known as the SAFE Act’s “successive years” rule. Our NMLS approved continuing education makes sure every year we provide you a new course so you never run into this problem.

 

What is the deadline to finish my NMLS continuing education course?

The NMLS states that the smart deadline (safe deadline) to finish your CE is by December 19th, any course completed between December 26th through 31st leaves you at risk of not completing your CE renewal.
